Following growing interest from schools and education networks across the region, Next Impact Learning Hub is expanding opportunities for students across Asia-Pacific to engage with FAO’s CultivatED education programme and participate in activities connected to the 2026 World Food Forum.
This October, a limited number of student delegation places are available across APAC to participate in the 2026 Global School Assembly at FAO Headquarters in Rome, alongside a wider three-day learning journey around the World Food Forum.
The Global School Assembly will bring together approximately 500 students, educators and UN experts from around the world, creating a global platform for young people to exchange perspectives, engage with sustainability and the SDGs, and contribute their voices to global conversations.
Building on our work with schools in Greater China, participation is now available to students across the wider APAC region, including Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, through school nominations and individual applications.
From the classroom to a global stage
The Global School Assembly forms part of CultivatED, FAO’s global education programme, connecting classroom learning with sustainability, agrifood systems and real-world student action.
Selected delegates will join peers from around the world at FAO Headquarters, engage with international experts and changemakers, and experience first-hand how young people can contribute to global conversations and action.
Beyond the Assembly, delegates will take part in a three-day learning journey in Rome, combining engagement at the World Food Forum with expert-led learning, institutional visits and opportunities to explore how global challenges are addressed in practice with AI and community engagement.
Growing the community across APAC
We are excited to see a growing community of schools, educators and partners helping connect young people across the region with this opportunity.
We are grateful to colleagues at IB, as well as schools, educators and education partners across the region, for helping us bring this opportunity to more young people. For IB schools in particular, the experience offers natural connections with CAS, Service as Action and international-mindedness.
Merit-Based Scholarships
To support wider participation, a limited number of USD 500 merit-based scholarships are available for outstanding student applicants across Asia-Pacific.
Applications
Schools across APAC are invited to nominate suitable students by 18 September 2026. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and places are limited.
